This painting evolved from an interview with a partially sighted person living with Leber’s disease.

Leber’s disease:
Leber’s disease is an optic neuropathy and affects the optic nerve at the back of the eye. It starts with clouding of the central vision and can go on to affect colour vision then eventually vision loss. It typically starts in the teenage years or early twenties in one eye and then the second eye is affected 2-3 months after. This disease is inherited and usually carried by the mother.
